Doug Carlin: What if you had to tell someone the most important thing in the world, but you knew they'd never believe you?
Claire Kuchever: I'd try.

- Deja Vu ( 2006 )

Author's note - I ask not that you believe, just that you read with an open mind.
N.B. : A Quatrain is a short poem, a 100 quatrains make a century. In all, there are 942 quatrains.

For so long, I have read people quoting from religious books preaching of prophecies and divinity, but eventually twisting the words to insult other religions. And it is so annoying because noone is ready to back down from that stand. It's always " my religion is better than yours." Very rarely do you see these religious heads speak of the larger picture - humanity. So today, I'd like to present a different side of the story -I'd like to present to you the words of one who practised pagan divination / black magic / trance channelling and in doing so, tried to warn us of what we would become.

How tough a life is it to know everything ? To be a physician and save others, knowing fully well the day when your wife and children will die ? Knowing fully well all the events that would unfold in the days to come ? To witness the future of humanity without understanding what you saw ? To know the day you would die of a disease you have treated and know, people will desecrate your grave to attain your secrets ? To try to warn world leaders of their follies and be termed an evil magician ? To watch mankind destroy itself ? What would you do under these circumstances ?

Nostradamus ( 1503 - 1566 ) had the same options years ago. And he chose to write it in verse, hoping to warn people of what we saw. It is a little known fact, but the quatrains he wrote are not in any secret script. They are written in the main languages of the day - French, Italian, Greek and Latin. He did however, resort to anagrams, word play and planetary alliances to avoid having them decreed as witchcraft by the Spanish Inquisition and burnt in his day. The biggest controversy even today lies in the interpretation - many believe he was merely shooting in the dark, rambling 942 possibilities, sure that some would be correct. They term these verses "vague" and "flukes".

Nostradamus' take ? In a letter to his son Cesar, he described his reasons for not being outright-
" I really did not want to write the documentations down concerning the future, mainly because of the insults I will earn. The present form of governing parties, religions will undergo tremendous changes in the future; literally they will turn around 180 degrees. Therefore those reigning authorities, if I would let them know what will take place in the future, which is not in agreement with their own ideas, would have been a reason to condemn and destroy my work, what is meant to be preserved as prophecy for the future generations. This is the reason ‘why’ I mystified the real sense of my quatrains.”
You see my son; the book of History I did not write to satisfy the curious, nor to frighten anyone. My real intention to write down the events of the future, was in the hope that “mankind could learn from their mistakes, before they being committed.”

In the following links, I'd like to present these "vague flukes" to you under the following subheadings.
Belling the cats - The prophecies fulfilled / really good guesses
The 3 demons - The 3 figures that scared Nostradamus the most
The Present - Interpretations we realised too late
The Future - the Doomsday prophecy

One man did it years ago. We did not believe him. We still don't. If history is to be believed, he cheated God by channelling spirits just to warn us, to try to change the future we always claim lies in our own hands. But as it has been over the last 450 years, Nostradamus failed over and over again. He could not save us from what he saw in our past, present or future. And perhaps, neither can we.
